Today, I proudly present the cover artwork design of my actual EP project. As a result, the title of the upcoming record is also revealed: Royal Flush. Everything refers to the poker game topic and a royal flush, the best possible hand in many variants of poker. Let me tell you a bit more about the idea of the title and the associated cover artwork in the following.

"Royal Flush" EP Cover Artwork
My friend of many years and former workmate Yannik Sturm agreed to work on the cover artwork of my then already started EP project back in early 2019. Relatively fast, we got the idea of different characters to be featured on the cover that shall represent my various musical identities as a musician and record producer. We reworked the placement and presentation of those characters several times until we came up with the final idea to display those in the form of poker playing cards. Soon, the EP project was titled like the best possible hand in poker - Royal Flush. All design elements of the concept are combined to an imitation of a vinyl record sleeve.
By now, we do not reveal the involved feature artists of the project. All we can say is that the mix of musicians and genres is quite versatile as the characters on the cover artwork imply. Another reason to be curious about further release-related announcements and the final release of the EP. ;)
"Royal Flush" EP Concept
However, you might be a bit disappointed when I tell you that there is no nifty concept behind the EP project. For me as head of the project and producer/songwriter/studio musician of all the EP's songs, it was most important not being limited to a particular music genre. With "Royal Flush" I want to highlight that a producer and musician should not be linked irrevocably to a certain style of music. I want people to realise that creatives like me are able to do various types of music in a unique and professional way. Artists should not be criticised if they test out new concepts and styles because this is part of the long journey of an artist's life. People often tend to link artists to a specific style and culture only by their looks. I do not want to deny that in probably most cases, the linking is correct. But I opine that it will not work in my or many other cases.
I do not want to be labelled as "metalhead", urban/rap or funk/soul/jazz artist right now. What I really want is to capture my song ideas as well as I can, and to be able to share them with you, so you have the opportunity to enjoy, or - maybe even - dislike them. From my perspective, every different music genre and its associated culture should have the chance to benefit from my input. We will see in the future where my musical journey will lead to.
Stay tuned for upcoming news regarding the "Royal Flush" EP and its final release. Cheers!
