I thought it is time for another playlist-related article because it has been a while when I posted the last one. This time, we talk a little bit about one of my favourite alcoholic drinks and the related Spotify playlists I created for each of them. Someday, my interest in drinks (especially in spirits), their production process and used resources began, and since then I love to enjoy a small glass of good spirit on Friday or Saturday evenings. All the more if I am in good company, I often have the desire to accompany the "consumption" with music. But often, we could not directly find a to the situation and the drink matching playlist, so I started to created ones.
Vodka - Absolut Elyx & Ciroc
For years, my favourite vodka was the premium product of the Absolut product range with its lovely looking bronze bottle, called Absolut Elyx. Its light vanilla flavour made that spirit my favourite vodka for the winter time and still is. But from my point of view, it is not that suitable for the spring and summer season.
More or less by accident, I found out about the French vodka brand Ciroc that is owned by Hip-Hop legend Sean Combs since 2007. The uniqueness of this spirit is that it is manufactured by using grapes instead of commonly used grain or potatoes in the vodka production. And yes - it makes the difference! You can taste the origin that makes it the smoothest vodkas I have ever tried.
Furthermore, it is available in a broad range of different taste variants like red berry, peach, pink grapefruit among others if you want to try something new. I made the experience that especially women preferred the variants with the flavours. So why not give all of them a try ;)
The playlist is filled with both legendary tracks from the glamorous Hip-Hop and R&B past and fresh new tracks to accompany you and your party crowd!

Gin - Monkey47
If you ask me, the perfect summer long drink is - definitively unbeaten - a gin and tonic. Also unbeaten (until now) is the smoothness of my favourite (dry) gin Monkey47 from Schwarzwald, Germany. Its citrusy and fruity taste makes it the perfect partner to be combined with Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic water.
According to the brand's marketing, the recipe has its origin in the post-war era when the British Air Force commander Montgomery Collins started to create his gin in the Schwarzwald area. Anyway, if you believe this story or not, it is a fantastic summer drink I highly recommend to you.
The associated Spotify playlist that features Dance/House/Electro tracks tries to support the summer vibes and the citrusy flavour of Monkey47. Enjoy!

Rum - Diplomático/Botucal
If you like chocolate the following spirit will probably become your favourite: Ron Diplomático from Venezuela. In this particular case, I am talking about the Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva. Because of a legal matter, the premium rum product line is called "Botucal" in Germany.
The Reserva Exlusiva matures in former whisky casks and is usually 12 years old. The rum won a lot of awards over the years that is not surprising if you tasted it. The tasting includes flavours of brown sugar and toffee fudge next to the previously mentioned chocolate. I recommend you to drink it neat to get the full tasting experience.
The associated Spotify playlist includes hot latin Trap/Rap and Reggaeton to get you in the mood :)

Whisky - Oban & Dalwhinnie
The Oban distillery is one of the smallest in Scotland, located in the west coast port of Oban. The striking distance to the sea adds the single malt whisky a light salty ocean flavour to flavours of fruits, honey and nuts. The 14-year-old Oban often is categorised as one of the dry, smokey, lighter and sweeter malts of the highlands. The whisky matures in Bourbon and Montilla-Sherry casks before it is finally bottled. So far, it is my number one whisky that is not too complex but also not too simple - every time a great tasting experience!
Another great whisky in my collection is the 15-year-old Dalwhinnie single malt scotch, one of the most-sold "Classic Malts of Scotland". Compared to the Oban, the Dalwhinnie's flavours are mainly a combination of sweet, followed by fruits, honey, light oak and vanilla. Bourbon casks are used to give the spirit the final finish. If you like sweeter whiskies you should give it a try ;)
The "Gentlemen's Time-Out" playlist features Jazz, Soul and jazzy Hip-Hop tracks.

Indian Pale Ale (IPA) - Brewdog
"Wait!" I hear you say, "this is beer and has nothing to do with the previously presented spirits!". Yes, you Sherlock Holmes, you are right.
However, I want to present you my absolute beer favourite - Indian pale ale to be exact! Almost everything what is produced in the Scottish Brewdog breweries is a lovely piece of drink and unique in a manner. You can spend a reasonable amount of time (and drinks) to try out their product line. Their flagship Punk IPA is still my favourite that combines strong tropical fruit flavours with a riot of grapefruit, pineapple and lychee that ends in a tasty bitter finish.
The quickly growing Brewdog empire also includes brand-owned pubs not only in the UK and America but also in some European countries (pub list). On top of that, they recently opened their first BrewDog Doghouse in Columbus, Ohio - the world first beer hotel for craft beer lovers! It is worth to follow those guys and see what they bring us in the future.
The "Bottoms up!" playlist entertains your Brewdog IPA tasting with Rock music - roughly categorised to prevent headaches ;p
